Framing started
We started framing this week. Quite a bit of design/build. Changed the skylights at the last minute.

Diggin
Not much happened on the house this winter with the exception of the fixing of the garage. We are now starting on the back step addition. Like most things, we have to start from the ground up and in this case, that means the sewer. Our addition foundation is going to have to go over the house sewer line that was installed in 1909, so we need to replace the old clay pipes with plastic to make certain they do not crack under the structure in the future.
I dug out the line, and so far the soil has been very easy to dig through. Hopefully the plumber will be out this week to replace the pipes.

Some downspouts used to tie into the sewer, but they are not used anymore.

End of the Tree
1/3 of the giant 100 year old Chestnut tree behind our yard fell on the garage on Friday at 6pm. We have had a few wind storms over the past week and must have caused a crack. It caused quite a bit of damage to the garage. Some of the roof sheathing is cracked under the metal roofing, both skylights are destroyed, and the back eave is destroyed. Final bill from insurance is $13,811 including $3800 to remove the tree from our side. It was sad that it fell about 2 weeks after I declared the garage project done.
